- According to US Census bureau approximately 30% of the population under 65 is uninsured in Weslaco (vs 20% in San Antonio and 13% in Austin) and medically under-represented.
- The Weslaco population has limited access to Endocrinologists and a high prevalence of Endocrine/Metabolic disease.
