- According to US Census bureau approximately 30% of the population under 65 is uninsured in Weslaco (vs 20% in San Antonio and 13% in Austin) and medically under-represented.
- The Weslaco population has limited access to Endocrinologists and a high prevalence of Endocrine/Metabolic disease.
- Hidalgo County, where Weslaco is located, has the largest population of the greater Rio Grande Valley with an estimate of 900k people. It is also one of the fastest population growth areas in the country, which is projected to nearly double by the year 2045.
